Truth behind the story ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-1030367CNN PRODUCER NOTE From her home in Lahore, Pakistan, iReporter Hira7 feels the world and the U.S. should turn to the United Nations to solve the Syria crisis, not act unilaterally. "Western powers have persistently neglected the UN's authority and it must be looked into," she said. She also feels any U.S. strikes would be counterproductive -- for the U.S. "They think they're getting rid of their enemies, but instead they're [creating more] for themselves," she said. - sarahbrowngb, CNN iReport producer The ongoing situation in Syria has grabbed the attention of entire world. The analysts seem to have discussed every aspect of the situation. But there are a few questions that are yet to be answered; I would like the readers to shed some light on these as well. I will try to highlight these questions as I go along. So the simplest version of the story is that the western powers want to disarm the Syrian government of the chemical weapons. Okay; why aren’t they presenting the evidence then, why hide it from the world. How do we know the entire situation will turn out to be like attack on Iraq? The so called “Weapons of Mass destruction” came out as a huge question mark and what was gained apart from the deaths of countless civilians as collateral damage and western invasion on Iraqi land. Seriously WHO GAINED WHAT? Besides what truly defies the common logic is if there is proof of chemical attacks on civilians than why not produce it. As the scenario unfolds, America has decided to completely ignore the rules and regulations of UN and Security Council; even those of its own population and has decided to take a unilateral action. It simply makes me think; UK, Germany and other major powers have simply backed out; isn’t it ironic? The suggested airstrikes by America, will only weaken the current Syrian government while strengthening the opposition, Is this is really what the western powers set out to achieve? There is so much one can add to the Syrian story but the question remains will the UN Security Council continue to allow the western powers violate their rules and invade one country after another? Who is actually behind the power play and who is the real beneficiary? For how long will we allow the deaths of innocent people as collateral damage? Aren’t the western powers raising more enemies against them? When will we see the truth behind the story
