16 Amish face Ohio trial in beard-cutting attacksSam Mullet Sr., the leader of a breakaway Amish group, stands in the front yard of his Bergholz, Ohio home. Mullet and 15 other Amish men and women are to go on trial Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, in Cleveland on charges of carrying out hate crimes in the hair-cutting attacks. Other charges include conspiracy, evidence tampering and obstruction of justice in what prosecutors say are crimes motivated by religious differences. They could face lengthy prison terms if convicted. www.windstream.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CDA0T4AU83%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=931You want my opiniun on this one? Well this so called amish man Sam Mullet Sr., he doesn't have the faith of any amish I ever met before. They don't have their picture taken like this man did.. If he were and Amish member and a leader with strict morals, he would have told then no pictures. Turned around or covered his face. He really looks like a good Amish leader just standing there proud.. Althought he does have buttons on his pants instead of a zipper. I'd say this is kinda two faced if you ask me..

Well that's fine with me. But when you break the law in this country it doesn't matter what you religion is. You live in this country you abide by the laws here. Its and open and shut case is you ask me..

Sheriff describes Ohio Amish beard-cutting scene
Holmes County sheriff's Detective Joe Mullet, who interviewed defendant Levi Miller, said Miller admitted involvement and said he was sorry for participating and for getting caught. Miller said that if he had known he would be caught, "I would have cut a lot more beards," Mullet testified. The detective said earlier that he didn't believe he was related to Sam Mullet or other defendants with the same last name. www.windstream.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CDA13M8DG3%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=931

Amish shunning is central to Ohio hate crime trialMullet had come to the attention of the bishops because, according to witnesses at his trial, there were concerns he was brain-washing community members. Prosecutors would later say he forced men to sleep in chicken coops as punishment, and one woman testified that Mullet coerced women at his settlement into having sex with him so he could turn them into better wives. The bishops eventually vetoed Mullet's shunning of the others, infuriating him to the point that he sought revenge last fall in a series of five hair-cutting attacks, prosecutors say. www.windstream.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CDA1ABIVO0%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1011&page=1www.windstream.net/news/read.php?rip_id=%3CDA1ABIVO0%40news.ap.org%3E&ps=1011&page=2Jurors began deliberating in the trial Thursday morning. I see that this is a very complex hearing with the Amish.. But if you consider the fact, (they all plead guilty) so what could you do but find them all guilty. I wasn't there to hear all the detail so that could mean allot. Just cutting hair might not mean much to us it does to the Amish.
