Deadly Florida highway pileup, at least 10 dead

A long line of cars and trucks collided one after another early Jan. 29 on a dark Florida highway so shrouded in haze and smoke that drivers were instantly blinded. At least 10 people were killed.

Lord have mercy!! Is it always like that down in Florida? I know I use to go there (a long time ago) but it wasn't like that.

The smoke was the cause for near 0 visibility.
The FSP had previously closed that stretch of 75 earlier.
What was the reason for the premature re-opening?
Why was a unit not positioned near the smoke hazzard, warning approaching motorist of the dangerous situation?
