made us less safe.
This is ironic and sad considering that the oft-repeated line concerning the reasoning behind the attacks is that they hate us for who we are – a free prosperous people – that we must not under any circumstances allow the terrorists to win. Though it is hard for many to believe, honest studies show that the real motivation behind the 9/11 attacks, and the vast majority of other instances of suicide terrorism, is not that our enemies are bothered by our way of life, neither is it our religion or our wealth – rather it is primarily occupation. If you were to imagine for a moment how you would feel if another country forcibly occupied the United States, had military bases and armed soldiers present in our hometown, you might begin to understand why foreign occupation upsets people so much.
Robert Pape has extensively researched this issue and goes in-depth in his book “Cutting the Fuse: The Explosion of Global Suicide Terrorism and How to Stop It”. In fact, of the 2,200 incidents of suicide attacks he has studied worldwide since 1980, 95% were in response to foreign occupation. Pape notes that before our invasion of Iraq, only about 10% of suicide terrorism was aimed at Americans or American interests. Since then however, not only is suicide terrorism greatly on the rise, but 91% of it is now directed at us.
Yes, the attacks of 9/11 deserved a response, but the manner in which we responded has allowed radicals in the Muslim world to advance a very threatening narrative about us and our motivation in occupying their lands. Osama Bin Laden referred to us as “crusaders” with a religious agenda to convert Muslims, westernize their culture and take control of their resources. If we had targeted our response to only the thugs and criminals who attacked us, and refrained from invading countries that had nothing to do with it, this characterization would seem less plausible to the desperate and displaced. Blaming Islam alone is grossly misleading.
Instead, we chose a course of action that led to the further loss of 8,000 American lives, 40,000 wounded, and has left hundreds of thousands seeking help from the Veterans Administration. We are $3 to $4 trillion poorer. Our military is spread dangerously thin around the globe at the expense of protection here at home. Not only that, but we have allowed our freedoms to be greatly threatened and undermined from within. The PATRIOT Act, warrantless searches and wiretapping, abuse of habeas corpus, useless and humiliating circumstances at the airport, are just a few examples of how we have allowed the terrorists to win by making our country less free. Suicide terrorism did not exist in Iraq before we got there. Now it does. There are no known instances of Iranians committing suicide terrorism. If we invade and occupy Iran, expect that to change, too.
Sometimes it can be very uncomfortable to ask the right questions and face the truth. When a slick politician comes along and gives a much more soothing, self-congratulating version of events, (( Now who would that be!)) it is very tempting to simply believe what we would like to hear. But listening to lies does not make us safer, even though it might make us feel better about ourselves. The truth is that ending these misguided wars and occupations will make us safer, more prosperous and more free.

That is indeed the spin that the terrorists put on the situation.(BUT is not the way that the average guy in Iraq and the other areas that I have spoken with see it. It is simply a terrorist's tool.) And this is Ron Pauls ideology upon which his foreign policy is based. His ideas on foreign policy scare the hell out of me. His statement above is not based on fact at all. I would much rather fight these bastards in their back yard than in MY back yard. That's the whole plan in a nutshell. It is militarily sound. Can you imagine the military trying to fight the jihadists in this country? The ACLU would have a duck. All of the human rights groups would be in the middle. The "Rules of Engagement" would guarantee massive American casualties. Listen CLOSELY to what Mr. Paul has to say about Iran having nuclear weapons. Listen VERY carefully and try to understand what all that really means. Mr. Paul has his head so far up his butt he will not be able to see daylight for years to come. It is his idea taht the Arabs and Jews can fight it out and we will sit back and let them have at it. That is the most absurd, stupid and impossible ideology that I have heard any adult male make in my life time. The man has NO KNOWLEDGE of the nuclear battlefield and its global effect. While the Arabs duke it out MANY people in our country would die from fallout and radiation sickness. He chooses to over look that little item. Before you blindly support or vote for this nut case, think seriously and in depth, on you own, about what he is really saying. I was in the military for 24 years and this guy simply scares the shit out of me!! If you really think about all that he is saying, you should get scared too. He is a VERY dangerous man.

WOW!...AGAIN! dent certainly has an opinion! dent, your post has considerably more thought behind it than I had originally thought it would. * You've spent some time considering "Who should be president", should I even ask how disappointed you are about past selections this country has made? *My thoughts, conversation, and postings are that of the typical "Hillbilly" which unfortunately are the same as the majority of Americans regardless of where they're from. To prove my point look where they let our country go by ignoring the political structure positioning itself in its present form. = Quote dent = WE SHOULD NOT EXPECT PEOPLE TO BECOME CIVILIZED AND ACT ACCORDINGLY? "WE" can expect ' til we're blue in the face' but I think we're past civilized people. OK! You say that's more "bull sh*t" but I think it's an honest opinion...that's right! = Quote dent = BUT SO FAR HE HAS NOT HEADED US TOWARD A NUCLEAR CONFRONTATION. he's still got another year and from the 'looks' of what the republican party is dishing out possibly 4 more after that. Hillbilly, I am one of those people that do not post on a topic unless I have given it serious thought, research and have come to a valid conclusion. I don't like just posting words. Yes, i have opinions, but I try to insure that they are valid opinions based on fact, study and research before I post them. There hasn't been an "outstanding" choice for President for many years. Some that were not impressive in the campaigns did well in the job however. The campaigns tell you nothing about the candidate. Their words are all false during the campaign. They tell you what you want to hear and then face reality when they get in office. At each election we are "buying a pig in a poke". Obama's remaining time is a great concern. No, he will not lead us into a nuclear war, but I am afraid that he will sit back in his ignorance and allow one to happen due to his inactions and total lack of a definative foreign policy. if Iran nukes israel during Obama's watch, what will he do then? Go to the aid of an friend or pull out his prayer rug and face Mecca?

by Ron Paul
In January 2009, the administration claimed that if Congress passed a rush stimulus bill, the United States would be saved from economic catastrophe that was threatening to send unemployment figures above 8 percent. Government stimulus was the answer and if we cared about our country, we would set aside our reservations and do what needed to be done to pass the bill. Congress passed the bill. Unemployment continued to go up and has been well over 8 percent ever since. (In fact, economist John Williams of ShadowStats finds unemployment to be closer to 23 percent using traditional methodology.) Yet some are claiming the first stimulus worked and all we need to bring back prosperity is more government stimulus.
Stimulus might appear to work for some people for a short time. It worked for a short time for Solyndra. For a time, they could pretend to be engaging in productive activities that would help the economy. For a time, unemployment was 1,100 people less. But the recent bankruptcy of Solyndra shows that the government is a terrible venture capitalist. This charade cost the American people over half a billion dollars they could not afford, yet there is no mea culpa. The administration is not questioning its calculations, or how they could have been so wrong on their unemployment predictions in the wake of the last stimulus.
Instead, they want more money. Once again we are hearing the cry that if we care about our country, we will approve more spending and more taxes and that will create more jobs. They promise.
Yes, you could have gone to the Solyndra factory and you would have seen jobs. What you could not have seen were the productive jobs that were never created. Real venture capitalists make decisions based not on politics and photo opportunities, but on complex economic estimations of risk and reward. They don’t simply throw piles of other people’s money at a factory and expect magic to happen. The uncreated jobs you can’t see might still be around. Instead, we have more government debt which will lead to more inflation and more taxes. These, in addition to an already hostile regulatory environment, only add to the burden and risk of job creation in the private economy.
It has been said that when all you have is a hammer, everything is a nail. Our government is full of people who sincerely believe big government and more spending is the answer to every problem. They automatically look to government for every solution. Government is their hammer, and all they know to do is to keep hammering. When government “solutions” still don’t solve the problems, they are unfazed. They keep calling for more government, more laws, and more programs. Americans are tired of being treated like nails.
This government-centric mindset is the root of the problem. People who think this way are naturally drawn to politics and government. To them, the Constitution is an annoying road block, something to get around, or ignore.
We must become interested in real, lasting, productive jobs – careers that allow families to build up a solid foundation of prosperity and economic security – not pretend make-work government jobs that waste resources and vanish overnight. We have to choose one or the other.

Audit the Federal Reserve 1794 Responses
You are viewing the 2009/2010 version of the Audit the Fed page. Please click here for the 2011 version or read on for the amazing history of Ron Paul’s efforts to bring transparency to the secretive banking cartel.
Listen to the Audit the Fed Song
The Federal Reserve is the chief culprit behind the economic crisis. Its unchecked power to create endless amounts of money out of thin air brought us the boom and bust cycle and causes one financial bubble after another. Since the Fed’s creation in 1913 the dollar has lost more than 96% of its value, and by recklessly inflating the money supply the Fed continues to distort interest rates and intentionally erodes the value of the dollar.
For the past 30 years, Congressman Ron Paul has worked tirelessly to bring much-needed transparency and accountability to the secretive bank. And in 2009 and 2010 his unfaltering dedication showed astonishing results: HR 1207, the bill to audit the Federal Reserve, swept the country and made the central bankers shudder at their desks. The bill passed as an amendment both in the House Financial Services Committee and in the House itself.
But the usurpers of America’s future didn’t take it lying down. They weren’t about to allow their secrets to be exposed and their magic money machine to be put under close scrutiny. They worked frantically behind the scenes to quietly derail all efforts to open up the Federal Reserve to an independent audit.
A handful of Fed-loving U.S. senators led by Chris Dodd rewrote the Senate version of the Financial Reform Bill to strip out Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed amendment and actually expand the Fed’s power over banks, lending and money. As Alan Grayson pointed out here, and Ron Paul commented on here, the Dodd bill completely eliminated legislation to audit the Federal Reserve, which already passed in the House.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) introduced an amendment on the floor effectively adding the Grayson-Paul language to the Senate bill, but later changed his amendment under pressure by the Federal Reserve and the Obama administration. The altered Sanders amendment passed the Senate on May 11, 2010 by a unanimous 96-0 vote.
Sen. Vitter reintroduced an amendment with the original Audit the Fed language. The Senate rejected the amendment on May 11, 2010 by a 37-62 vote.
The House and Senate went to the conference committee which attempted to reconcile the differences between the two bills (and their amendments). Unfortunately, Ron Paul’s tough language ended up not being included in the final bill.
On June 30, 2010, the GOP introduced Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill as a motion to recommit, which was the last chance to alter the financial regulation bill. Audit the Fed failed by a vote of 229-198. All Republicans voted in favor of the measure with 23 Democrats crossing the aisle to vote with Republicans. 114 co-sponsors of HR 1207, all Democrats, jumped ship and voted against Audit the Fed.
But let’s start from the beginning. Here’s the fascinating history of Ron Paul’s Audit the Fed bill:
02/2009: Ron Paul introduces bill to Audit the Federal Reserve
On February 26, 2009, Ron Paul introduced HR 1207, the bill to audit the Federal Reserve:
“I rise to introduce the Federal Reserve Transparency Act. Throughout its nearly 100-year history, the Federal Reserve has presided over the near-complete destruction of the United States dollar. Since 1913 the dollar has lost over 95% of its purchasing power, aided and abetted by the Federal Reserve’s loose monetary policy. How long will we as a Congress stand idly by while hard-working Americans see their savings eaten away by inflation? Only big-spending politicians and politically favored bankers benefit from inflation.” HE'S right on everything he says, but nobody listens

"Thoughts in my singular opinion"
I totally agree with Dr. Paul in the following article:
Ron Paul Rejects Donald Trump-Moderated Debate
What started out as a simple dismissive email from Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul rejecting a Donald Trump-moderated debate has turned into a full blown war of words between the two men. The exchange got personal, with Paul questioning Trump’s financial competency, accusing him of mismanaging his finances, and Trump issuing a statement saying Paul was “willing to lie” and “either very jealous of Mr. Trump, stupid, or a combination of both.” The exchanged started earlier today when Paul joined fellow presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman in bowing out of a Trump-moderated presidential debate sponsored by conservative website Newsmax.com and planned for Dec. 27 in Des Moines, Iowa. Paul’s campaign chairman, Jesse Benton, distributed a scathing press release saying that Trump’s participation “is beneath the office of the Presidency and flies in the face of that office’s history and dignity.” “Mr. Trump’s participation as moderator will distract from questions and answers concerning important issues such as the national economy, crushing federal government debt, the role of the federal government, foreign policy, and the like,” Benton said. Benton called the choice of Trump as a moderator “wildly inappropriate” and said his presence at the debate will “contribute to an unwanted circus-like atmosphere.” “Therefore, our candidate Ron Paul, the champion of the Constitution, has advised he will not attend,” Benton concluded. Trump did not take the rejection well. In a statement to ABC News, Trump called Paul “a clown-like candidate” who has “inconsequential poll numbers or a chance of winning.” Trump went on to plug his book and questioned how Ron Paul would fare in the world of big business. Trump’s reply prompted another statement from the Paul campaign. In it Benton suggested that if Trump wanted to be taken seriously by Republicans, he needs to quit the reality show “Celebrity Apprentice” in which he stars. “If he gets his act together, President Paul might consider getting his advice on fixing our country’s financial situation,” writes Benton in an email to ABC station KTRK-TV in Houston. “We understand Donald has a lot of experience with bankruptcy.” Accusing Trump of questionable finances promoted another statement accusing Paul of being “willing to lie” to make a point. “By making such an absurd comment, Mr. Paul is either very jealous of Mr. Trump, stupid or a combination of both,” said Michael D. Cohen, Executive Vice President and Special Counsel to Donald J. Trump The statement denies that Trump ever went bankrupt, adding that he “used the laws of the country on a few companies that he owned, owned small pieces of or bought to his benefit.” The statement also says that Trump revived several distressed properties such a mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, the Kluge Winery in Virginia, and the Commodore Hotel in New York. “People who are worth 7 billion dollars, with little to no debt and 270 million in cash do not go bankrupt,” Cohen said. The two have never really had much of a relationship. At the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year, Trump proclaimed that Paul had “zero chance” of getting elected president, which drew loud boos from the Paul supporters in the audience. Paul shot back that he’s been elected in Texas 11 times — something Trump hasn’t even accomplished once

The Federal Reserve has two tasks under the law: to keep inflation low, and to achieve maximum employment. It's failed both miserably, Ron Paul is absolutely correct - get rid of it! Whenever "WE" wash tax money thur a gov agency you can bet it's getting wasted, distributed to those that shouldn't have it, and filling the pockets of the rich. Don' take my word for it...Google it and see what you find out! FEDeral REServe/waste. theeconomiccollapseblog.com/.../government-waste-20-of-the-crazie...(( and there are many more ))... =*= The blind leading the blind =*=
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Federal Reserve has two tasks under the law: to keep inflation low, and to achieve maximum employment. The European Central Banks (ECB) one dominate task is to keep inflation low. "TOTAL FQILURES!"...both of them; or the countries they represent wouldn't be in the shape they are now. Neither at this time have a 'dime' to their name. They are producing and distributing Monopoly money to various countries. How long can this last before all hell breaks loose? The only thing that's keeping this world glued together is "good-faith", and how long do you think that will last? Look at all the countries in turmoil, including "US", revolt, revolution, picketing, mass demonstrations - what's going to happen when it's all over? Will there still be "goodwill, good faith, good anything"?" When countries try to restructure, rebuild, and repair their financial matters where will it come from? Example: Where are "WE" going to get approx. 20 Trillion to pay 'our' debt? Is whoever "WE" owe it to going to take rectangular pieces of paper that are only worth the ink that's printed on them? =*= Sorry to be so gloom! =*= ...but these are questions that must be answered and it is each of 'our' duties to either be a part of the solution or ignore it all and fail as a person, country, and civilization!

But someone's got to win this thing and, more and more, signs in the Hawkeye State suggest that someone could be Ron Paul. A new telephone survey of nearly 600 likely Republican caucus-goers in Iowa, conducted by Public Policy Polling, puts Paul in the lead with 23 percent support
about Iran having nuclear weapons. Listen VERY carefully and try to understand what all that really means. Mr. Paul has his head so far up his butt he will not be able to see daylight for years to come. It is his idea taht the Arabs and Jews can fight it out and we will sit back and let them have at it. Jack it's beginning to look like the country is ready for a change of politics:
Ron Paul on Jay Leno: His Best Video Ever; Paul Soars into the Lead in Iowa Polls; Paul Passes Gingrich in New Hampshire!
Many people have serious misconceptions about who Ron Paul is and what he stands for. In a riveting video on the Jay Leno show, to a wildly enthusiastic audience, Ron Paul explains his position on numerous subjects.
"WE" all know it ain't over til the 'fat' lady sings!
You still of the same mind dent? 'i' don't see anybody else doing anything about it either and now there is N. Korea on top of it

Dr. Paul likes Newt about as much as he does "The Donald!". Ignore him, and he'll go away - it worked on Trump! ..and it's working on Newt-ity.
Newsletters: This was debunked decades ago. Ron Paul didn’t write it and disavowed it. Why did Hosenball and Jacobs write this? Oh yeah, to smear an honest man. Why does the director of the Texas NAACP [ Nelson Linders ] support Ron Paul? Oh yeah, because he is the best candidate for minorities. How low can these people get? The media is really trying now. Look at 30 years of Ron Pauls voting, speeches, personal friends, patients, community members… He did not write those letters and it should be stunningly obvious that he did not. He has never conducted himslef in this manner.
Please everyone, don’t buy into the media hate circus.
Ron Paul is the real, consistant conservitave the others wish they were.
