All government expenditures should be cut the "exact same %". This includes entitlement programs, salaries of government employees, military, anything that's paid with tax dollars. And a complete revision of federal income taxes.
GM made 7.4 billion in their physical year/which "will be tax exempt" & they still owe you & me about half what they borrowed. I wish government would cut a deal like the for me-us-the people that are financing it all.

Seniors have paid into Social Security and Medicare for years and the government has borrowed from it for years. Now that the fund is low they want to cut benefits instead of paying back what it has borrowed. These younger people in Congress who propose cuts and increasing the age for SS seem to know nothing about what has transpired or have selective memory loss. If the government were a private company taking funds from a retirement program they would have a lawsuit on their hands. Private retirements are protected. Many seniors worked for years without private retirement plans where they worked. They depend on SS coming through for them now. Leave Social Security and Medicare alone!

No cuts in Social Security period. Why? Because our Representatives have taken over 3 trillion dollars out of the SS Fund for many years now and left behind a bunch of worthless bonds they knew would never be paid back. They were warned several decades ago when they voted to take the excess from SS that they would not be able to keep their grubby little hands off it. So year after year after year they have taken out millions, then billions and now the SS fund is owed in the trillions. I've been paying into SS since 1961 and I'm still working and paying into SS. Those bums in Washington year after year came up with a plan to legalize stealing from the SS fund. Let todays jokers in Washington come up with a new plan to legally steal it from the oil companies/non tax paying businesses and put that money back in SS without taking it out of my pocket. If they won't they should spend the next fifty years in jail.

If it comes down to cutting back on those programs, then there should also be an equal percentage cut in foreign aid programs, the military budget, the State Department budget, Federal employees benefits and all congressional health insurance plans and pensions. My money says politicians don't have the guts to do the hard work needed.

Terry- Greensburg, IN "Hoosier Hillbilly" February 23rd, 2011 2:21 pm ET Your comment is awaiting moderation. It's my opinion, if they should cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, it shouldn't effect the people close to retiring or those already on one of the services.
These last two years was been more than tuff already on those close to and retired. Some savings disappeared because of 'crooked' business practices, then government let 'us' get into even a worse fix by bailing out 'crooked banks, finance companies, wall street, and large business concerns – that if they couldn't stand on they're own feet, they should have been let fall. I never saw them helping me out in business, they kept asking for more and more.
If gov. hadn't mis-used the money in those accounts to begin with, it wouldn't be a concern today.
Even if you still got alittle money you can't invest it anywhere to keep up with the falling value of the dollar. You make 2% & the value of the dollar goes down 5%.
First things first: They ( the government) need to cut their 'own' size down ( salaries too since they don't do anything to earn it ) and then do the same for their ridiculous spending.
Even a 3rd grader knows the best way to have money and save some is to not spend it! Cut the extravagant trips, ear marks, pork spending, and all the other { unnecessary @#%* they do } and become part of the Nation they're asking 'us' to put up with.

I'm going to do what I can to reduce the debt/deficit, and I call on all of you to do the same. See below..........................
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Biting the bullet---cutting expenses. I HOPE YOU WILL PARTICIPATE, AND DO YOUR PART ! ! The President ordered the cabinet to cut a whopping $100 million from the $3.5 trillion federal budget! I'm so impressed by this sacrifice that I have decided to do the same thing with my personal budget.. I spend about $2000 a month on groceries, household expenses, medicine, utilities, etc, but it's time to get out the budget cutting ax, go line by line through my expenses, and cut back! I'm going to cut my spending at exactly the same ratio -1/35,000 of my total budget. After doing the math, it looks like instead of spending $2000 a month; I'm going to have to cut that number by six cents! Yes, I'm going to have to get by with $1999.94, but that's what sacrifice is all about. I'll just have to do without some things, that are, frankly, luxuries. (Did Obama actually think no one would do the math?)
I will no longer leave the light on for you!

A whole $100 million? WOW!
$14,000,000,000,000 - $100,000,000 ________________ $13,999,900,000,000
Bless their hearts... They think we're stupid.
