In CPAC keynote speech, Sarah Palin urges a long, competitive primary season
Sarah Palin
Speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Saturday, Sarah Palin encouraged conservative activists to keep the Republican primary season going, saying the competition will "strengthen" the GOP nominee in November.
"We're hearing now, we've all heard from these experts, that we've gotta name our nominee right now," the one-time vice presidential nominee and former Alaska Gov. said. "As if competition weakens our nominee! In America, we believe that competition strengthens us. Competition will lead us to victory in 2012."
Her speech closed the three-day conference in Washington, D.C., where Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich spoke Friday. Immediately before Palin delivered her remarks, conference organizers announced that Romney had won a non-binding straw poll conducted among attendees, beating Santorum by seven percentage points.
But while Palin defended a prolonged primary season, she also cautioned against taking party infighting too far.
"The far left and their media allies can't beat us on the issues, so instead, they'll destroy our records. They'll smear our reputations. They'll even attack our families," Palin said. "Let's not do the job for them, okay Republicans?"
Palin has shied away from expressly endorsing a candidate, but said the nominee "must be someone who can instinctively turn right to constitutional conservative principles." Of the candidates in the field, Palin reiterated that she would support any of them against President Barack Obama. Her husband, Todd Palin, endorsed Gingrich in January, and she urged voters before the South Carolina primary to vote for the former House Speaker, but only to extend the primary season for the reasons she outlined in her CPAC speech.
"We must stand united," Palin said near the close of her CPAC address. "Whoever our nominee is."

Roger Ailes: Sarah Palin 'Had No Chance To Be President'
Amazing Inspiring Funny Scary Hot Crazy Important Weird
Sarah Palin responded to a harsh comment Fox News chief Roger Ailes made about her earlier this week.
During a speech at the University of North Carolina, Ailes said that "Sarah Palin had no chance to be president." The quote came from New York Magazine editor Gabriel Sherman's Twitter feed, who was at the event and is writing a book about Ailes and the rise of Fox News. Ailes was at the university addressing a group of journalism students.
Palin responded to Ailes' remarks in an exclusive interview with Breitbart.com. Palin called the remarks "interesting."
She said, "I wonder if he is aware that the same thing was said about me when I ran for city council, mayor, and eventually governor." She added, "No doubt many people who are told they can’t do something will work that much harder, and they succeed." She suggested Breitbart.com send her employer the documentary recently made about her, "The Undefeated." Palin said, "The theme of Steve’s film isn’t about me, but about the idea of not letting others dictate one’s path in life and never giving up when you’re fighting for something precious like our exceptional nation and our children’s futures. So, would you send a copy of “The Undefeated” to him?"
This is not the first time Ailes has said something of this nature about Palin, nor the first time Palin has struck back. In July 2011, Sherman wrote a cover story about Ailes for New York magazine, in which a Republican source close to the Fox News chief said that Ailes thought Palin was "an idiot" and "stupid." Later, Fox News and Ailes heavily disputed that report.
In October 2011, Ailes was quoted as saying that he hired Palin to be a Fox News contributor because "she was hot and got ratings." The following month when Palin announced that she was not going to enter the 2012 Republican primary race, Ailes was reportedly outraged that she did not make the announcement on Fox News. Instead, Palin went on Mark Levin's conservative talk-radio show.

Secret Service agent made sexually suggestive Facebook comment about Sarah Palin The secret service suffered fresh damage to its already battered reputation on Friday when it was disclosed that one of the agents involved in the Colombia prostitution scandal posted pictures on Facebook of Sarah Palin accompanied by a sexually suggestive comment. img.ibtimes.com/www/data/images/full/2012/04/20/265256.jpg The security service supervisor, David Chaney, had been assigned to protect her during the 2008 presidential campaign while she was John McCain’s vice-presidential running-mate. The photographs show Chaney in the background at a car door with Palin in the foreground. In a comment under one of the pictures, Chaney wrote: “I was really checking her out, if you know what I mean?” Now how can you blame the man for doing that?Posted by Hoosier Hillbilly on Sept 28, 2011, 5:14pm Sarah Palin: Would a "title" shackle me? *** I'd like to "shackle" her! *** 'i' plead guilty, but 'i'm already retired! Sarah Palin proves she's no fool Almost as soon as it was announced that Barack Obama had defeated John McCain in the 2008 general election, most pundits -- and voters, for that matter -- assumed Sarah Palin would be the president's opponent in 2012. 12:00 a.m. EDT, October 6, 2011 GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan— Almost as soon as it was announced that Barack Obama had defeated John McCain in the 2008 general election, most pundits -- and voters, for that matter -- assumed Sarah Palin would be the president's opponent in 2012.
And why not?
She didn't just breathe life into McCain's campaign but into the entire Republican Party. Up until then, the GOP was about as hip as a dot matrix printer. Palin represented a brand of conservative politics that was Twitterable and has since been instrumental in the rise of the tea party.
She is charismatic
She is beautiful.
She is a leader.
And in the view of many people, particularly liberals, she's also a bit of an idiot. (( Which is what makes her "ALL!" the above ))
A botched Katie Couric interview here, a "Saturday Night Live" skit there, and since breaking into the national scene, countless gaffes and misstatements.
And yet despite it all, her popularity remains relatively high, particularly among conservatives. Recent polls all show the majority in her party do not want her to run, but those surveys do not mean people, her people, do not love her.
So when she announced Wednesday she was not running for the 2012 presidency, I'm sure quite a few of her supporters were extremely disappointed.
That wasn't my reaction. I smiled, thinking Palin isn't dumb at all.
In fact, she's pretty smart.
"My decision is based upon a review of what common-sense conservatives and independents have accomplished, especially over the last year," her official statement read. "I believe that at this time I can be more effective in a decisive role to help elect other true public servants to office -- from the nation's governors to congressional seats and the presidency."
In other words, she can continue to influence national politics without having to be responsible for actually making a decision. She can criticize with a broad brush without the burden of contextualizing her statements with detailed, alternate solutions. She's like a performance artist whose opinions are rarely second-guessed, whose tongue is rarely censored. She's rich and famous and essentially has no one to answer to. Her persona is so mesmerizing that her daughter Bristol, a mother at 18, gets paid to talk about abstinence.
We should all be as dumb as Sarah Palin.
Seriously, why would she stop doing what she is doing to seek a thankless job, that pays poorly for the work that it requires? Why turn her back on a public life with little accountability to campaign for a public life in which every decision will be scrutinized.
Politicized.
Criticized.
Obama swatted a fly on television one day back in 2009. The next day, PETA issued a statement asking him to be more humane to animals (( especially dogs ))

*** Agree ***
PS: Incidentally, Sarah and I have the same commitments, ideals, and philosophy concerning life and government. .. The Wikipedia website above Fisherman referred to expresses 'our' beliefs. .. Sarah said, " I am contemplating a run for U.S. Senate against current Senator Mark Begich.[ "I've considered it because people have requested me [to] consider it," and she said, "I'm still waiting to see what the lineup will be. And hoping there will be some new blood, new energy. Not just kind of picking from the same old politicians in the state that come from political families."] Amen!

"What difference at this point does it make?" Clinton responded. "It is our job to figure out what happened and do everything we can to prevent it from ever happening again - and then she =quits= quit defined: released from obligation, charge, or penalty (So Obama better be quiting) (like many of his staff has).
