hearing on NIPSCO proposed rate hike, coal power shutdown The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) will be holding a public hearing this Monday, March 11, at 6:00 pm at the Hammond High School auditorium. The hearing will allow concerned people to make their voices heard regarding NIPSCO’s proposed 12-percent rate hike and proposal to shut down its coal power plants. I will be attending and commenting at the hearing. I encourage everyone receiving this email to do so as well. A strong turnout will be invaluable in convincing the IURC – which normally rubber-stamps whatever the utilities want – to say no to this unnecessary rate hike. Typically, five minutes are allowed per person at such hearings, although no time limit has been publicly announced. IURC recommends people arriving by 5:45 pm. More information is available at www.in.gov/oucc/files/NIPSCO%20PFH%20NR%202-25-19.pdf.
