Our neighboring state of Ohio has started an online website where any taxpayer can go on this site, plug in the municipality, county, school corporation etc. and see what has been expanded on behalf of we the taxpayers. This is specific right down to seeing copies of checks written. It is voluntary and free for any government entity of their state to utilize in the name of transparency for the taxpayers. What an AWESOME idea. Hope that Indiana will follow suit and that our local offiicals would not only participate in an idea of this nature but will encourage the implementation by our state officials to develop a site like this for the transparency and the convienence to the taxpayers. Just think of the time saved by doing this in not having to deal with information requests , paperwork, time and etc. that goes with these requests. I know that there are websites that taxpayers can find bits and pieces of information if they are educated in where to look....but having one common website with all possible information is truly a step in developing the trust of the public in general. It would also be an awesome idea to campaign on. Please give this some serious consideration on behalf of those you serve. I heard about Ohio's new website through listening to the promotion of this site on 55KRC talk radio with Brian Thomas on the morning show. Here is a link to Ohio's new website: ohiotreasurer.gov/Transparency/Ohios-Online-CheckbookP.S....I sent this same above post to many of our state and local officials
