River intake construction likely to take longer than expected FROM THE ARTICLE: The board rejected a proposal from Indianapolis-based Wessler Engineering for $30,000 to provide more accurate data about how much water the city’s infrastructure can deliver in which area of the city. Denney has said that an update of the city’s hydraulic model could aid economic development. The city’s water system can easily provide water anywhere in the city above the state-required 20 pounds per square inch, Denney said. However, if a company were interested in building on the city’s outskirts a manufacturing plant with significant water requirements, Denney said he may not be able to say whether the system could handle the plant’s demands in that location. An updated hydraulic model could provide the information, Denney said, but the board did not want to pay $30,000 for the update, as it probably can charge HNTB a fraction of that price tag to update the model the company generated several years ago. www.greensburgdailynews.com/news/local_news/river-intake-construction-likely-to-take-longer-than-expected/article_db963525-0861-54b9-8330-6af49e8ae2cd.html
