Your thoughts have much merit.
My observations over the last 70 years is that government is more of an obstacle and
opportunist in the last 20 years, not guided by consistent principles or plans.
The 'Great Depression' was certainly an infamous time and history should be studied to determine the elements involved in creating that period of time and not duplicating it as
"WE" just attempted to do.
No society is perfect, just as no person is perfect, but left to our own devices I think we
function better with less government interference.
Along with that reasoning on individual responsibility and freedom comes the patriotism and morality that's needed for a society to prosper for without all four 'we' will die.
