Screen legend to highlight November Chautauqua William D. Moss Screen legend to highlight November Chautauqua Contributed PhotoEdward Asner Posted: Friday, September 26, 2014 2:00 pm Brent Brown Daily News GREENSBURG – Greensburg Community High School (GCHS) teacher John Pratt has spent the better part of the last seven years “fishing.” Metaphorically speaking, he casts his lines in a veritable ocean of potential Chautauqua guests, hoping for “nibbles” of interest from historical figures, television personalities and famed recording artists, in order to bring a unique blend of culturally significant people to Greensburg for a pair of history-themed programs each year. About two weeks ago, the history teacher reeled in his biggest catch thus far, an Emmy-winning television legend set to headline November’s evening Chautauqua program in the GCHS auditorium. The “big fish” for this year’s fall event is Ed Asner, who won five Emmy awards in the 1970s and ‘80s portraying gruff workaholic news producer Lou Grant, first in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” and again in that show’s spinoff, “Lou Grant.” Asner went on to win a pair of additional Emmys, making him the top male recipient in the award’s history. www.greensburgdailynews.com/news/local_news/article_d1a84fa2-4eb3-5991-9613-072e99deab35.html
