WTRE report on County Commisioner's meeting concerning the airport expansion

Charlie Hocker expressed his concerns about accountability for the airport project. He questioned the portion of the Comprehensive Plan that shows the need for an interlocal agreement for the airport construction. He questioned the potential impact on taxpayers and the county's liability. He feels there has been false information put out by some organizations, but was not directing it at the commissioners. He asked for due diligence to determine who really benefits from the airport expansion. Based on his work experience, he felt that the supply chain for local factories would not be affected if the airport expansion doesn't take place. He concluded by stating that he was pleased with the tenor of the meeting and the attention of the commissioners since he felt he and other residents had been attacked when addressing city organizations. He will be presenting to the county council on Tuesday. Mr. Nobbe asked attorney Kenneth Bass to research the situation to find out about potential zoning changes and what overall legal ramifications apply in the airport expansion.
