Sign Solutions request of behalf of Tom Sibbitt CHevrolet a variance for a new sign to replace a sign that is on the current facade. This sign will exceed the total square footage that is allowed by Greensburg ordinances and the number of signs allowed by the Greensburg ordinances.

Decatur County Commissioners are requesting a variance concerning the new jail to be built concerning parking around the jail. They would like to eliminate the curbing that is required around all parking areas by city ordinance.

John Slinker of 314 E. Central Greensburg is requesting a variance involving the minimum side yard setback of 5' from the east and west property lines.

Greensburg IN City Council Budget meeting of 8-20-18

NOTE: You initially may find it hard to hear this meeting as it was held in the planning room and they do not have a speaker system in that room. The council (when starting out) talks very low and as the meeting picks up ....so goes their voices.

The next City Council Budget meeting will take place on Monday 8/27/18 and the first vote on the budget will take place at their September 4th, 2018 City Council meeting which will be a public hearing on the budget. In accordance with a county "safety" tax that was initiated on us the city received a portion of that tax which is being utilized to hire additional police officers and a fire inspector for the fire department. Raises will also be a part of the budget voted on at the City Council meeting. The Police and fire raises were discussed at this meeting and a compromise of $3,750.00 was discussed for both. The new hire for both the police & fire came out of the new tax money so that if that fund is ever discontinued that those positions could also be eliminated as they were funded through that source.

NOTE: Be sure to listen to the financial report.....but more importantly be sure to listen to the report given by the airport board on contacting the landowners. In that report it was stated that the Koors family had been sent letters and called several times and is not responding. Then it was stated that the Goddards had not yet given permission either. Due to this , the next step the board took was to pass authorization for their board attorney to take action if they did not comply with letting them on their land to survey and appraise. Jim Pruett did not vote for this action as he said as an attorney he could see some potential problems resulting from the wording. My comment : Welcome to Greensburg!
