IMPO there's "NO" gray in the conflict between black and white.
Dispelling of all the myths (a set of beliefs or assumptions about something), legands (a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated) "[as told
by Al & Jesse]", and misconceptions (a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding), let's go straight to the FACTS - The TRUTH and nothing but the TRUTH!
The 'country's' willingness to give blacks a fair and equal chance was more than overwhelming
displayed by making a black man president, 'we' can't change or be responsible for the last couple hundred years of humiliation we've caused them, 'we' are not the primary cause for failures of the past.
Society has given blacks an equal opportunity for the last 50 years and we've done more to compensate for their hardships than we've done for whites. They haven't taken on the obligation and responsibility as a race }double meaning{ to make improvements to themselves!
The fault today falls basically square on their shoulders.
Examples of their failures are very obvious: education, respect, responsibility, unwed births,
unemployment, welfare, government housing, crime rate, "including killing each other", just to name a few - it's not that they haven't had the opportunities for self improvement, they are more bent on self destruction!
Dr. Ben Carson explained it on 60 Minutes last night(Sunday, August 24).
I came to understand that the person who has the most to do with what happens to you in life is you. It's not the environment, and it's not somebody else. Do those things play a role? They do. And if you want to focus on them, you can have a life that is completely controlled by others. But you can take control of your own life. These are messages that we must get across to people. We must re-instill the can-do attitude in America,((( not the what can you do for me or what have you done to me attitude.)))
