‘Humanitarian’ Phil Robertson Honored by His Alma Mater – Students Protest, Professors Walk Out
Controversy seems to follow Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson everywhere that he or his family go…even to the university he attended…the school that just bestowed on Phil a distinguished alumni award, the annual Tower Medallion.
Louisiana Tech University honored the Robertson family patriarch with the award bestowed on outstanding alumni who have, as the university’s website explains:
“…distinguished themselves by exceptional achievement, community service and humanitarian activities.”
The Louisiana Tech Alumni Association decides who receives the annual award, and members obviously felt that Phil Robertson earned the honor. But some students and professors felt otherwise.
An LGBT student group organized a protest. And during Saturday’s commencement ceremony, three professors walked out to show their displeasure with Robertson’s outspoken views on homosexuality, religion and marriage.
Would that be considered racist or just not politically correct? LOL
