In the case of homosexuality and other complex human behaviour, Turkheimer’s Third Law of Behaviour Genetics states that “A substantial portion of the variation in complex human behavioural traits is not accounted for by the effects of genes or families”. To explain homosexuality in terms of genes only is, therefore, scientifically very naive. Although it is known that up to 10% of any given population is genetically predisposed to homosexual tendencies, under strict social conformational pressure of our traditions, homosexuality was suppressed and only individuals with the strongest attributes expressed it. In a society liberalizing like ours now, however, this pressure is eased, allowing for more people to openly express their unique sexualities.
