As this is a Government of the People by the People and for the People I believe the so called Death Panels are Unconstitutional and are not a means of getting this country out of debt. As was suggested in an article posted by Newsmax.
"Breaking News from Newsmax.com
Krugman Backs Death Panels for Elderly to Solve Debt Crisis New York Times columnist and economist Paul Krugman told ABC's 'This Week' that 'death panels' will stop rising medical costs and continuing deficits. He also called for a VAT national sales tax to solve the debt crisis. "
I do however contend that we need Tarp Reform... Since there are far to many frivolous medical malpractice law suits brought forth in this country. And that one way to curtail this abuse is to insist that the loser in any Medical Court Case pay all Court Cost. It would reduce the need of malpractice insurance and reduce the cost of medical insurance over the long term.
And as far as the VAT tax is concerned let's do away with the Income tax and institute the fair tax which would do away with all loop holes for the wealthy
Any one else have any thoughts on the matter?

It's gonna take some sacrifice from everyone to dig ourselves outta this black-hole of debt. Cut spending. (Give me the budget and a pen, I'll be glad to show 'em how.) Fewer governmental services. CUT DA PORK! (Since most of America has experienced pay cuts, furloughs, etc... I think the politicians should take a pay cut too.) Increase tax revenue. www.fairtax.orgKeep holding the politicians accountable.

Not only would the Fair Tax close the loop holes for the wealthy, it would have those from other countries who do commerce here paying a share of the taxes. We should be able to completely do away with the IRS, it might be that some of those jobs could be converted to handling the increased tax revenue - or maybe, just maybe - they could be part of the worker-relocation program and get employed by "Joe American, Small Business Owner" that is now able to expand his company because his tax burden has been shifted to give relief that opens up investment capital.
And I so agree with you Cyberman, I think all politicians should take a 25% pay cut right off the top immediately, they should lose their expense accounts and expensive fringe benefits, it should become illegal for a politician to receive financial gain from any lobbyist, and last but not least, they should be banned from voting in their own pay increases. Their salaries should be paid from the state they represent with an amount voted on and approved by their own constituents. What a wonderful world it would be!
