Mushroom Lesson # 1 mushrooms to do grow from cow piles @ least the kind 'U' eat. although alittle cow manure in the mix wouldn't certainly help
Mushrooms do not have chlorophyll so they must get all their nutrients from the soil. The soil needs to have a high organic matter content.
That's why 'U'll find them in the woods where decaying wood, leaves, and other organic material builds up under extreme moisture and humidity. Created in part by things 'rotting' which gives off heat. 'i' shouldn't have mentioned rotting, should 'i'?
Rotting is a natural vegetation process, it returns everything back to what it was to begin with, just a bunch of chemicals and other nutrients.
Kinda like the cows above. ((But 1st let me ask, do you drink milk or eat foods with milk in them*, do 'U' eat beef, pork, chicken? Now 'U've got the idea.)) They eat the grass that was fertilized by the cowpile and then give it back to refertilize the ground that grows the grass.
Lesson # 1 complete: What 'U'r smelling is me fixing an egg omelet with Shiitake mushrooms, choppped onions, green pepper, and a spoon full of homemade catsup.

'i' carried my new born son ( Marty ) into what was to be his room, placed him on the changing table to change his diaper ( back then there weren't them prepackaged instant off-ons ) . Pulled the bad one off went to put the good one on and 'i' got it right in the face. Kid's a couple days old and he's already pi$$ed Dad off; or @ least pi$$ed on.
