Bill Raiford brought up the subject of racism in his recent column in this newspaper. This is generally a subject that everyone talks about in private but, for some reason, is scared to discuss in public. Perhaps that’s because of the social “political correctness syndrome.” So, before you get ready to call me a “bigot” or “racist” in Rant & Rave, let me get a few things straight. I’m a member of a church that has white and black members. These are people I love and respect dearly. We worship the same God! I know a lot of black people in my church and the community. So recently, I started conducting an informal survey. I started asking blacks if they had voted for President Obama and why. Practically every one said they had voted for Obama because, “I wanted a black President.” Then I asked the same question about Rep. Sanford Bishop. Not surprisingly, I was told, “I wanted a black congressman.” Then I asked, “What would you say if I voted for someone because they are white?” Their answer, “You are a racist.” I asked them to stop and think about what they had just said. Duh! It’s a no-brainer. Full letter to the editor. timesenterprise.com/opinion/x356195528/LETTER-TO-THE-EDITOR-Politics-of-race

Attaching color to anything except white makes one an immediate racist.
Our black next door neighbor is a decent guy. As neighbors, we get along just like any other neighbors do because we show respect for one another's property. Around the corner, however, there is a house which is quickly going down hill because of the neglect and disrespect. We are considering taking action against the home owner, and have asked our neighbors to join us, so now, we are considered racist because the residents are black.
Regardless of whether the neighbors agree w/us or not, they won't go against each other in any manner except among themselves. Too bad. As the neighborhood declines because of this, it won't be long before we move and will be accused of "white flight".

The White Male in America is rapidly becoming the most discriminated against segment of our population.

Some may describe it as "karma". I'm not proud of the discrimination we as white people have placed on those of other colors. I suppose now we are reaping what our ancestors have sown, just as our grandchildren will suffer the consequences of our poor judgment.
