Not sure there's a degree in 'jerkiology'. In other words, you're either a jerk, or your not. It's doubtful that guy would be any different w/out the sheepskin.

I agree Sandraj, personalities of most people aren't affected by their education, but there are exceptions to that for sure. I also agree with Fyre that people shouldn't flaunt their education, however, they shouldn't feel like they have to hide it or not be proud of it.
After all, a degree of any kind takes a lot of time, money, and perseverance - and it is a great achievement. Most people I know with degrees, it took them more than the normal amount of years to attain them due to family and work obligations, and I am very proud for them.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't be proud of there achievements, and yes to get a doctrine and phd alone is time consuming and hard work. I don't even mind listening to them tell how they worked to achieved it and they should be proud of it, but there is a limit on how many times you have to ear it and to watch it be flaunted at any chance you get a chance, that is being egotistical. I'm not saying all people are like this, just this certain person. And yes one can be a jerk with or without a degree.

To turn it around, can you imagine how it sticks in a person's craw who has worked many years in school in order to achieve what they've become, only to have to sit and listen to someone who made it overnight w/sheer luck?

What about those who have paid their way through college, gotten their degree, and then can't find a job utilizing their degree - only to take a job where they are making the same amount of money that someone who hasn't spent the time/money or hard work to get a degree is making? I would see that as VERY frustrating.
