GREENSBURG, Ind. Honda Manufacturing of Indiana, LLC (HMIN), which produces the popular Civic Sedan and alternative-fuel Civic Natural Gas, today began a second production shift for the first time, which increases production at the plant to its full 200,000-unit annual capacity and adds approximately 1,000 new associates to Honda's operations in Indiana.
In 2010, more than 87 percent of the Honda and Acura products sold in the U.S. were built in North America, using domestic and globally sourced parts.
About HMIN
Honda Manufacturing Indiana, LLC (HMIN) in Greensburg, Ind., became Honda's fourth auto plant in the U.S. and its seventh in North America when it began production of Civic Sedans in October 2008. The plant marked production of its 100,000th Civic in February 2010. With employment approaching 2,000 associates and capital investment exceeding $550 million, HMIN today produces the Civic Sedan and Civic Natural Gas, including Civics for export to markets outside of North America. HMIN started operations as a zero-waste-to-landfill factory, meaning no waste is sent to landfills, and maintains one of the lowest environmental footprints of any automobile plant in Honda's global production network.

That sounds like good news for the region. I know Indiana has suffered greatly during these troubling economic times. Maybe some USA corporations can take notes and learn from Honda.

Actually there's alot of people pretty upset with them. Seems they've hired a bunch of temps from the companys that promote that and the ones that spent so much time and energy filliing out apps and taking physicals and going thur their test program aren't being hired. They're pissed to say the least. I'm sure turnover for 2nd shift will be 'many' since alot of people don't realize how tough that is - it's a "whole new life" change and many will not be ready for that. + "WE" got a lot of dumbasses in this area that won't be able to operate @ the japs level, you know? When 'i' say this area, that's one of the problems, Honda goes out of county for most of it's employees???
