Violet Wells, 86, Indiana
Violet Fern Wells, 86, of Greensburg, Indiana, formerly of Falmouth, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Odd Fellows Nursing Home, Greensburg, Indiana. Mrs. Wells was born in Falmouth, Ky., on June 29, 1918, daughter of the late James L. and Anna Elizabeth Piercefield. She was a homemaker and member of the Roanoke Christian Church. She married Chester Venton Wells on September 27, 1941 and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1994. Survivors include her son Terry (JoAnne Irene “English”) Wells, Greensburg, Indiana, sister, Bernice Purdy, Falmouth, Ky., two grandchildren, Melissa Dawn “Wells” (James) Brown, Marty Aaron Wells, two great-grandchildren, Courtney East-lynn Brown and Caleb Robert Brown. Services were held on January 16, 2005 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Interment took place in the Morgan Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Roanoke Christian Church Rt. #5, Falmouth, KY 41040.

1776--Falmouth, the future county seat, begins as a settlement called Forks of Licking The valley in which Falmouth stands was settled at an early date by John Waller, John Cook, Alvin Montjoy, John Sterne, Jacob Sink, Mr.*** Lenyear and others.
1777 May 27--Peter DeMoss marries Catherine Houseman, daughter of David and Mary Merchant Houseman in Frederick County, Virginia.
