That is until some person hacks 'em, or some sick person alters the programming to facilitate a crash while carrying what was to be a legitimate delivery, but was covertly replaced with an IED.

Robots and/or drones are just as dependable as the person holding the controller, the programmer that compiled the code, the hardware specialist that assembled the hardware, the maintenance personnel that perform upkeep on the equipment, the IT gurus that maintain everything else in between, just to name a few of those "uncontrollable people."

I wonder where the majority of the integrated circuit boards used in drones or the additional hardware required, originate from?

Chances are it's some uncontrollable person from another country.

IMO...Drone use should be shelved for at least another couple of decades.

I really have no problem with drones. They are used in the surveying and mapping field on a regular basis with no problem.
If we are going to ban drones because they can be used to cause harm, then it's not a giant step to apply the same logic with firearms. The tools are harmless. Crazy people are going to do what they do with anything available. We cannot lock up all the possible devices.
Once we get over the "logic" applied by the ACLU in reference to the treatment of the mentally ill, then and only then, will people be safe. It's those folks you see every day walking down the street having an animated conversation without the benefit of an Obamaphone that we have to worry about.

dent soon drones will put UPS out of business. It'l be like a swarm of bees filling the sky carrying packages.
I've already armed by 6 shoot 12 gage riot gun with #2's.
And AR 15 with hollow point-brass tips..the ol' two for one thing!

To control massive number of drones would be near impossible and not cost effective at all. I do not think that skies full of drones will ever happen. There's not enough bandwidth available for the control systems, nor would the signals be stable with all the "cross chatter". You could possibly push the button on your garage door closer and watch 10 or 15 of them spin, crash and burn.

As a delivery method, I could see them utilized for isolated remote locations, but not in an urban setting.
